As the system expanded, the need for a central office became clear. As a result, DSS established a cabinet of directors in 2023. The following year, the central office evolved into the independent entity, Discovery Science Schools, serving as a contracted operator for the system schools.

As of 2024, all schools within the system have maintained A+ status and the Florida Department of Education recognize them as “High Performing”. These distinctions highlight their commitment to academic excellence.

A New Chapter

Discovery Science Schools is excited to embark on a new chapter with Tallahassee Preparatory Academy (TPA). DSS fully embraces TPA’s vision of creating an accessible and challenging private school for advanced learners. By drawing on decades of experience in serving accelerated and gifted students, customizing curriculum to meet individual needs, and supporting academic competition teams, DSS is committed to establishing an institution known for its academic rigor and achievement. DSS proudly embraces TPA as part of its diverse, inclusive, and culturally vibrant community.

DSS encourages families to visit TPA and explore the opportunities available for their children’s future. Families have always been the strongest supporters and advocates for DSS schools. DSS considers families an integral part of the team and looks forward to welcoming TPA families as part of this ongoing legacy.
