ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

NonDiscrimination Policy: Tallahassee Preparatory Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, national or ethnic origin in admissions or administration of its educational policies, financial programs, or academic and other school-administered programs.

ACADEMIC

As part of the admissions process, TPA requires students to demonstrate a certain level of academic readiness to ensure they are well-prepared for the rigor of the curriculum.

Please note that nearly all schools in Florida, both public and private, administer some form of progress monitoring assessment for students at every grade level, including Kindergarten and VPK. However, schools may not always share these results with parents unless specifically requested. Families should reach out to their child’s current school to request the most recent progress monitoring scores. Providing these will make the application review process more efficient. If a child’s current school does not conduct such assessments, or if unable to obtain the results, TPA will need to schedule an admissions exam to evaluate the child’s readiness. Once the application is received, the Admissions Team will provide further guidance.

Accepted test scores include:
FAST
EOC
MAP
SAT10
TerraNova

Please also review the Core Subjects: Math academic progression plan for middle/high students.

BEHAVIOR

Students must not have any expulsion on their record.

MAINTAINING ENROLLMENT

To remain enrolled, students must continue to meet the admissions requirements each school year.

Students who withdraw must reapply and complete the admissions process to regain readmission. There is no priority status for former students.

SIBLING POLICY

Sibling Priority status is strictly reserved for siblings. Extended family members, friends, etc. do not qualify for Sibling Priority. Exceptions are only possible for Educational or Legal Guardianship. In those instances, legal documentation is required to justify Sibling Priority status.

Please Note: Due to capacity restrictions for each grade, it is not always possible to enroll all siblings at the same time or during the same school year. Further information can be provided by the admissions officer at the time of enrollment.

WAITLIST POLICY

If an applicant meets the admission requirements but there are no available seats, they will be placed on a Waitlist. When a seat opens, they will be contacted for enrollment.
