TALLAHASSEE PREPARATORY ACADEMY
MATH TOURNAMENT
Thank you for your interest in our first ever math competition! TPA Math Tournament (TMT) is open to any student in the Tallahassee Area. It is free and will take place in two different divisions. Division A is open to students in Grades 3-5 and consists of a number sense round and a sprint round. Division B is for students in Grades 6-8 and has sprint and target rounds. Explanations of the rounds are provided below. We look forward to seeing you at the event!
AWARDS
Students will be ranked among their grade level with the Top 5 students in each grade being recognized. All recognized students will receive a gift packet that will include gift cards and a competition math study book. Grade level winners will also receive an iPad.

REGISTRATION & DAY OF EVENT
Please arrive at the school by 9:45am.
All students should bring multiple pencils and an eraser. Middle School students should bring a non-graphic calculator for the Target round.
A pizza lunch will be provided for competitors around 12:30pm.
TPA may require proof of grade level in the event of a dispute.

NUMBER SENSE
- 60 Math Fluency Questions
- Calculators are NOT allowed
- Short responses; answers must be given in their simplest form
- Each correct response is 1 point; each wrong answer is -1 point
10 Minutes
SPRINT
- 30 Multiple Choice Questions
- Calculators are NOT allowed
- Each correct response is 2 points; each wrong answer is -1 point
- Sprint score determines the 1st and 2nd tie breaker
35 Minutes
TARGET
- 10 Short Response Questions
- Calculators ARE allowed
- Each correct response is 6 points
30 Minutes
